1962 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster: Have you been looking for a way to get yer kicks? A Roadster you can drive and enjoy? One's that's ready for a trip down Route 66? She must have Original Character? It must be a looker? And last but not least, it's gotta be an early Corvette? Now sit back and let's take a short trip down memory lane!
For a little fun to remind you of an Era gone by! Where were you in 1962? Do you remember the Folk (Protest) Music of Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and Peter, Paul & Mary? "If I had a Hammer" Hmmm! The Beach Boys were on a "Surfin' Safari"! Or Tony Bennett would produce his biggest hit, "I Left My Heart in San Francisco"! How about the premier TV hit "The Beverly Hillbillies"! Of course, most will remember the "Red Skelton Comedy Show"! The Three Stooges were in Orbit! And sadly Marylyn Monroe would leave us way too early but would remain forever timeless for generations to come! On the sports side, Wilt Chamberlin of the Phili Warriors would be the 1st B-Ball player to Score 100 Point's in a single game with a 169-147 win over the New York Nicks! Really? Does anyone know if this was ever beat??? Of course, the New York Yankees won the World Series over the San Francisco Giants! I hope you enjoyed the Trip! Now on to the Vette!
Well what we have here is ONE of 14,351 Vette's produced in 1962! This lady is #1443 off the line in the last year of the straight rear axle Corvette! Forever timeless in it's style and very desirable! The Best of the Last, so to speak! The Sting Ray would be next! Many of these babes were cut up to be Race Cars and/or Hot Rods! Not this Lady! While this is not a Matching # Car, she is a good honest example of what is clearly a well maintained and wonderfully preserved Vette with some subtle power up-grades! A Nice Ground Up Restoration, both Cosmetically and Mechanically! Under the hood is a period correct 327 V8 4-Speed that has been built to 340HP specs with that special solid lifter sound! The best part is that she is an excellent looking, super tight and enjoyable driver in about every aspect! CLEAN!
Known Items: A great example of an early Vette with honest character! The Frame is Solid and the Body is Great with Utah history and now residing in Idaho! An above average professional re-finish with some minor expected use flaws and unknown age. The top of the RF Fender where it rolls down has two minor cracks that look to have been caused by a minor tap that was repaired to the RF headlight area years ago (see sub-page pix for details). Nothing that takes away from her beauty and only adds to her character! No other cracks were noted and the body is spectacular! The chrome is near perfect everywhere with the exception of some minor pitting on the top windshield trim and near the mirrors (See Sub-Page). The glass is NICE and the soft top is good! The interior is very Sanitary, also with original Character. The Radio and Clock are Inop. Remember this car is very original and 42 years young! When you look under the dash in person at how clean it is, you will understand the honesty! Even the Jack and Spare is still in Place! Great Radial Rubber! Runs and Drives PERFECTLY! Not Perfect and Not New but a Solid Driver about as good as you will find! I enjoyed test driving this car! |
